In the early 70's most beer in Britain were keg beer, filtered and artificially carbonated; the campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) was founded in Britain in 1971 to save “real ale”.

”Real ale" is a living product, the beer brewed from traditional ingredients, undergone a slow secondary fermentation in the vessel i.e. cask from which it is dispensed and served without the use of extraneous carbon dioxide.
